The name comes from Ismene — a figure from ancient Greek tragedy, part of Sophocles’ Theban Plays.
In ancient Greek mythology and tragedy, Ismene (Ἰσμήνη) is best known as a Theban princess, the daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, and the sister of Antigone, Eteocles, and Polynices. Her name translates roughly to “knowledgeable” or “knowing.”
In Oedipus at Colonus, Ismene is the loyal daughter — faithful, steady, always there for her blind exiled father, carrying messages through chaos.
In Antigone, she’s the cautious one. While her sister defies the king, Ismene holds back — pragmatic, grounded, choosing survival over rebellion. And when it all falls apart, she’s the first to step forward and say “I’ll share the blame.”
That’s the spirit of ismini. Not the loud one. Not the one breaking rules.

When I was a new user to AI, I was struggling to set up the runners, servers, gateways, context length, temperature, etc. etc. etc… (you name it). Millions of settings, thousands of adjustments — even just to start a model for chatting.
We are in the AI era and new users cannot even start a model to say “hi.”
AI apps are made by power users, for power users. Apps difficult to install, difficult to open, difficult to run. A hell of configs just for a casual conversation or local troubleshooting.
So, I decided to make my own AI agent. Endless sleepless nights — but I think I made it. A minimal, autonomous, dependency-free, strictly local, user-friendly agent. Easy to install, easy to run.
I made it for all the new users — and the power users too. With passion and love, for the people struggling with the difficult AI apps out there.
